On Sunday, April 27, the City of Atlanta kicked out the cars and welcomed the sights, sounds, and flavors of the ATL for the first Atlanta Streets Alive (ASA) event of 2025.

Co-sponsored by the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) and Propel ATL, ASA is a car-free, open-street celebration that promotes safer, more vibrant communities by reclaiming public space for people, not vehicles. It aligns with ATLDOT’s Vision Zero goals of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by encouraging Atlantans to experience city streets on foot, by bike, scooter, skates—or however they choose to move without a car.

“The revival is real,” said ATLDOT Commissioner Solomon Caviness. “For streets, for businesses, for communities and neighborhoods—and for family fun! The streets were open and safe to enjoy in a variety of ways.”

Silence the Shame's mission is to empower and educate communities on mental health and wellness.

A sunny, springtime forecast greeted residents, visitors, and “fur babies” alike. In celebration of National Pet Parent Day, Praline’s Backyard Dog Services hosted a pop-up pet enrichment station with brain games, snuffle mats, and interactive dog toys. The event also featured an E-Bike Expo, free pedicab rides, and bike valet service—all part of the city’s broader effort to support safe and sustainable travel options.

The second ASA event took place on Sunday, May 18, along Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, bringing the same energy and community spirit to a new corridor.

    Key ASA Facts:
    • 93,000+ attended seven ASA events in 2024
    • Five ASA events are scheduled for 2025
