Camp Best Friends, one of Atlanta’s longest-running and most cherished summer programs, is back for its 44th season, offering a citywide experience filled with connection, creativity, and community.

Running from June 9 to July 25, this year’s camp introduces a playful “Under the Sea” theme that will guide activities across multiple locations and age groups—from preschoolers to older adults.

More Than a Camp—A Summer of Opportunity

Operated by the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, Camp Best Friends provides a safe, structured environment from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, giving working families peace of mind while offering campers a summer filled with:

Atlanta Says NO MORE campaign reduces domestic violence homicides through community awareness and coordinated response
Silence the Shame's mission is to empower and educate communities on mental health and wellness.
    • Arts and crafts
    • Field trips
    • Sports and recreational games
    • Swimming and water activities
    • Specialty camps in tennis, soccer, and therapeutic needs
    • Atlanta Teen Academy for youth leadership and development
    • Primetime Senior Camps for older adults

From toddlers to teens, everyone has a place at Camp Best Friends.

Nature Meets Nurture at Lake Allatoona

One of the most anticipated additions this summer is an overnight camp experience at Lake Allatoona. This opportunity allows campers to connect with nature, develop independence, and build bonds beyond their neighborhoods.

Especially for youth growing up in urban environments, the overnight program offers a rare and valuable chance to disconnect from digital life and rediscover the natural world.

    Affordability That Works for Families

The City of Atlanta remains committed to keeping Camp Best Friends accessible and affordable for all families.

    • Weekly cost: $35 for Atlanta residents, $110 for non-residents
    • Multi-child discounts available
    • Financial assistance offered for qualifying families

By removing financial barriers, the city ensures that more children can enjoy a productive, engaging summer while staying away from potentially risky environments.
