Atlanta Shines On-Screen with Launch of Set South Locations Look Book

Atlanta’s role as the “Hollywood of the South” just got a bold new spotlight. This month, Mayor Andre Dickens and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife (AMOFEN) unveiled the Set South Locations Look Book—a curated visual showcase of the city’s vibrant filming destinations.

This first-of-its-kind look book is designed to attract filmmakers, studios, and creatives from around the world by capturing the essence of Atlanta’s neighborhoods, natural backdrops, historic architecture, and modern urban spaces.

“Atlanta’s entertainment partners are a crucial part of a collaborative effort that creates jobs, boosts our economy, cultivates local talent, and contributes to our city’s unique culture,” said Mayor Dickens. “We want the benefits of this industry to be felt in every corner of our city.”

    A City Built for Film

From its picturesque suburbs and downtown skylines to its gritty alleyways and charming historic districts, Atlanta offers an expansive catalog of looks for productions of every scale—from major motion pictures to indie films and student shorts.

The Set South Locations Look Book highlights these spaces in one accessible, visual resource for producers, scouts, and directors looking for flexibility and variety within a single city.

    Why Atlanta?

    • Favorable climate and diverse landscapes
    • Robust tax incentives
    • Talented, homegrown crews
    • Affordable production costs
    • Proximity to the world’s busiest airport

    Behind the Scenes: AMOFEN’s Role

The Mayor’s Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife works closely with production companies to streamline the filming process while minimizing disruption to neighborhoods and businesses.

Through coordination with city departments, permitting support, and industry relations, AMOFEN has helped transform Atlanta into a go-to filming destination that balances creativity with city life.

Their efforts have also strengthened partnerships with labor unions, casting directors, and location managers—building Atlanta’s reputation as a city that understands and supports the entertainment industry.

    A Gateway for Opportunity

While the look book is a visual guide for productions, it also serves as a symbol of opportunity—for local actors, set designers, location scouts, and small businesses that benefit from Atlanta’s growing entertainment economy.

“This initiative is about opening doors—for filmmakers and for our local talent,” said a representative from AMOFEN. “We want the world to know that Atlanta is more than a location. It’s a creative partner.”
