Heroism was on full display Friday evening as officers from Atlanta Police Department’s Zone 6 risked their lives to rescue residents trapped inside a burning home at 329 Hill St. SE. The officers were flagged down around the time of the fire and immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they learned that multiple residents were still inside the home, which was quickly filling with smoke and flames.

Without hesitation, the officers entered the burning structure, navigating through heavy smoke to evacuate the residents. After successfully clearing the home, they were informed that one individual remained inside.
Demonstrating extraordinary courage and commitment to public safety, the officers re-entered the engulfed home to retrieve the final occupant. All residents were brought to safety thanks to their swift and selfless actions.

One officer was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported among the rescued residents.
